Within the histories of art and philosophy, pain has been extensively discussed and given visibility, while itching has remained largely overlooked. Yuri Miauchi, an award-winning international artist based in Yokohama examines how such perceptions are translated, inherited, or left unarticulated within human experience and society. Her practice focuses on bodily sensory organs, particularly “itching,” as a point of departure, exploring skin-based and visceral sensations.
These bodily sensations are universally experienced yet difficult to grasp or control. In recent years, she has engaged with the relationship between bodily sensation and social structures through the lens of the politics of sensation.

Dalam sejarah seni dan filsafat, rasa sakit telah banyak dibahas dan ditampilkan, sementara rasa gatal masih sering terabaikan. Yuri Miauchi, seorang seniman internasional pemenang penghargaan yang berbasis di Yokohama, meneliti bagaimana persepsi tersebut diterjemahkan, diwariskan, atau bahkan tidak terungkap di dalam masyarakat dan pengalaman manusia. Praktiknya berfokus pada organ sensorik tubuh, khususnya “rasa gatal,” sebagai titik berangkat, dengan mengeksplorasi sensasi kulit dan sensasi organ yang lebih dalam.
Sensasi tubuh ini dialami secara universal, namun masih sulit dipahami atau dikendalikan. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, Yuri meneliti hubungan antara sensasi tubuh dan struktur sosial melalui perspektif politik sensasi.
